Since more than a decade I am working in the field of motion pictures. As an Art Director in a brunswick communication agency I had the chance to work on video projects for companies like "Volkswagen" or "Audi". Furthermore I try to realise my personal video projects and animation ideas in my spare time. As a generalist I am used to a lot aspects of motion design. As a matter of fact I am not perfect in any of these aspects but good enough to handle the workflow from preproduction till postproduction.

Graphic bits




Besides my strong affinity to motion and animation I am also used to conception, graphic design and illustration. In the past I worked on projects only with traditional software like "Photoshop" or "Illustrator" but more and more it became a mix of different tool sets to expand the possibilites. Exspecially "After Effects" is very powerful for the finishing touches of still images and illustrations.

I really like HTML conding from time to time. This apsect of design is more abstract and force you to have a structured workflow. Unity and webGL on the other hand are nice tools for me to explore more interactive systems and develop own visuals and experiments.

The fusion between flesh and machine is fascinating in many ways. One the one hand it will always be an important topic in our developement as a species and on the other hand it gives me freedom when drawing.

The conecpt behind the "Specimen" drawings is the fusion where the human part is mostly taken by the machine. This conecpt offers me the most freedom in the drawing process because the result can be very abstract and i do not have to think much about perspective and proportions.

Salaryman




Salarymen is an expression from the japanese culture. Meant are young people - mostly men - who are working all day long and only go home to eat and sleep. They are like drones and there are a lot of them... First time I get in contact with this was with the movie "Tetsuo - the Ion Man". In combination with the way I draw characters I realized that I can organise my drawings in "Specimen", "Cyberpunk" and "Salarymen". The conecpt behind this topic is the human that is controlled by the machine as some kind of parasite.
